Train The Painter – abrasive blast cleaner (silver)
Train the Painter is an internationally recognised training programme which is accredited and approved by The Society for Protective Coatings – SSPC.
The training has been developed by industry experts in response to the strong demand for certification within the industrial coatings industry that now requires personnel working within the road, rail, renewables and oil and gas industries to obtain professional specified certificates.
SSPC Train the Painter has three modules including:
- Protective Coatings Applicator (Bronze, Silver and Gold levels available)
- Abrasive Blast Cleaner
- Spray Painter
Delegates will be awarded with either an Orange, Bronze, Silver or Gold card depending on the modules completed and experience already gained in the protective coatings industry.

Course Overview
Train The Painter – Silver combines two modules of the SSPC Train The Painter programme.
The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Delegates will be assessed throughout the practical exercises and complete a multiple choice test for each module.
A Silver card will be awarded upon successful completion of the practical exercises and multiple choice tests.

Prerequisites
In order to attend and complete the Train the Painter – Protective Coatings Applicator (Silver) modules delegates must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a minimum of 1600 hours proven experience
Training/Career Path
Route to Bronze card – You must complete the Protective Coatings Applicator training.
Route to Silver card – You must complete Protective Coatings Applicator AND Abrasive Blast Cleaner OR Spray Painter training.
Route to Gold card – You must complete Protective Coatings Applicator AND Abrasive Blast Cleaner AND Spray Painter training.
Upon successful completion of the Train The Painter – Protective Coatings Applicator modules, delegates will be awarded with a Silver card.
To be granted the Silver card delegates must have worked in the protective coatings industry for more than 1600 hours, successfully completed the Protective Coatings Applicator and Abrasive Blast Cleaner or Spray Painter training.
